The files for BILLETS Release Candidate 2 for Joomla! 1.0.x are available now for our Charter Members in My Downloads. Everything that was said in our previous blog entry still applies.
If you’re interested, take a look at the code. What we’ve done is create a system where we use (for the most part) Joomla 1.5’s MVC methods in Joomla 1.0.x. This results in
- cleaner code that’s easier to maintain
- code that executes faster
- smaller, more organized files
Thanks in advance!

Hey all!
We just wanted to give you a quick update that things are running a little behind schedule with the next release, but it should be out in the next few days (and considering some of the things it can do, it’s worth the wait… we may post some screenshots for you…)
The delays are primarily because we’ve decided to do some dramatic re-writes of our code. We’re doing this across all of our components for a few reasons:
- We’re implementing plugin systems in all of our components so that should YOU want a functionality that can be easily written, you can write a traditional Joomla! plugin for it (and maybe post it for others on the JED!). The first of our components to use one is SYNK, and BILLETS will be the next. (JUGA, MANGA, AMBRA, SCRIBA, HOMEBASE, and DEREVO will also use them)
- We’re standardizing our code across our components so that it’s easier for US to manage them across teams AND so that APIs are easier to publish for YOU
- We’re pushing much of our component activity into library files that are essentially wrappers, which allows us to quickly and easily publish our components for each of the Mambo/Joomla versions out there in the ether…
- We’re making all of our components use each platform’s language system natively…
So, as you can see, we’re really busy, but if you trust us, we pomise that this investment of a little bit of time and effort NOW will present better, more powerful components *faster* in the future.
We can’t wait for your feedback on all the new components and upgrades coming out in the next couple weeks!
Thanks!
